So I’ve booked my CCIE Lab. Having an actual lab date changes things. It focuses you because you have an end point. So far my life has been: get up, study for a couple of hours, go to work, study for a few more hours. I can’t remember what it was like not to study. I remember something vaguely about having a social life. Somthing about sunshine outside and laughing and joking with my friends. Carefree Arden. Don’t get me wrong I still go out and meet up with friends (My wife keeps me from going totally insane), but the CCIE is always in the back of my mind. Having a lab date means there is a possible end. The proverbial light at the end of the tunnel.

I need a new plan of attack. So far I have been working through the Internetwork expert Workbook 1 & 2. Workbook 1 has technology specific labs where they have multiple labs covering one topic. Workbook 2 has big labs covering all topic areas. I usually do a lab out of workbook 2 and then anything I miss, I’ll do the corresponding labs out of workbook 1. The problem is I am forgetting some of the topics after I’ve completed the labs. So I am going to change tracks. I am going to do each lab multiple times until i get it perfect before I move on to the next.

Lab Date: 7th of May 2008.
Days Remaining: 152
Readiness (out of 10): 5

  1. Oh, yes. Having the date booked is incredibly focusing. Very much so. Good luck with your prep. I’m a little further down the road than you are, but I still have a lot of practice labs to do.
